“Design is where science and art meet in perfect balance.” – Robin Matthew
Victoriia achieves this balance in her designs. Although she is an economist by education, her true calling lies in design. In the evenings after work, she studied design at the Postgraduate Education Center and made trial projects for her friends. This gave Victoriia her first practical experience and a portfolio of her own work. Later, she began collaborating with design studios.
Victoriia sought to develop her skills and attended masterclasses with world-renowned designers and architects such as Dagmara Simenets, Federico Ferretti, and the architects of the Zaha Hadid studio, among others. Inspired after her studies, she worked to create true beauty in her projects.
Mostly, Victoriia worked with private construction and renovations in various regions of Ukraine, creating designs for houses and apartments. There were also unusual projects, such as designing the conference hall at the state-owned enterprise Ivchenko-Progress, which produces aircraft engines.
At the end of 2017, Victoria and her family moved to Spain. For the first 2 years, she worked remotely, creating designs for Ukrainian clients. Later, she had projects in Spain.
The war in Ukraine has turned upside down the lives of many Ukrainians and ruined the plans of many. Whether people were in the country or somewhere around the world, it was still emotionally challenging to experience the war. For Victoriia, understanding what was happening in her native country was tearing her soul apart. When the troops destroyed the entire district in Irpin, where Victoriia Kurhan once designed an apartment in a new building, occupied the city of Vesele, where her clients had just finished renovating their apartment according to her project, constant shelling in the suburbs of Zaporizhzhia, where two private houses just completed construction according to her plans… all of this was a real shock and despair.
The only thing that gave Victoriia strength was her volunteer work. Ukrainians in Plasencia united as a community in the town where Victoriia lived. Engaging in this work, the designer was happy to participate in organizing humanitarian aid for Ukrainians. She was filled with joy when they managed to send several trucks with aid to Ukraine and also helped many Ukrainian refugees in the region of Spain where she now lives. Together with her compatriots, she organized several charity events with auctions and even made a charity concert “I am Ukraine.” All the proceeds from the charity evenings were sent to the account of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
War makes life without “rose-colored glasses.” It becomes clear who is in your environment. It becomes clear which goals are real and which ones are not worth paying attention to.
Somewhere around 4 months into the war, a great goal of life appeared to Victoriia – to rebuild Ukraine even better than it was before the war. Life gave her another amazing encounter with the company Easy Mobile Home. It was here that Victoriia Kurhan felt that her surroundings were filled with beautiful people who set themselves the same goal.
In Victoriia Kurhan’s designs, sketches, and projects, there is so much life! She attaches great importance to light. It is noticeable how she skillfully combines the elements.
Victoriia particularly excels in portraying Water in her interior designs. Looking at her projects, one can feel the Air. And the room designs themselves provide a sense of confidence, as sturdy as the Earth. Only Fire is most often brought into homes by those who will live in the estates created by Victoriia Kurhan’s design.
Meetings are not accidental. Now we are a team too! We see that life on the planet requires more humanity and beauty, ecology and light! This is obvious to those who have ever experienced war. Through our collaboration, we will try to create a truly unique World of the Future.
